Caroline Wozniacki takes home the year-end No. 1 position of the WTA rankings for the second time in a sequence. The 21 year old Danish player, started playing tennis even before she is nine years old, won the singles title of Osaka Mayor’s cup of Japan when she was just fourteen, and hence the winning spell continues till date. Being the first Scandinavian woman to hold the top ranking position and the 20th overall, she says that no one can take off the No. 1 position from her for now.

Getting to the top position is never easy and staying there for two consecutive years really proves her exceptional talent, willpower, dedication and confidence. Hats off to the young player and News Chips wishes her the very best for the years following.

The two met a year ago, decided to make a beautiful couple and hence the unforgettable traditional ceremony took place at a Farmhouse at Gurgaon last Friday evening (28th October 2011). 
 
Many VIPs graced the memorable function including Yuvraj Singh, Virendar Sehwag, Ishant Sharma, Munaf Patel, senior cricketer Madanlal, former coach Dave Whatmore, BCCI official Rajeev Shukla, Anuradha Prasad, BJP leader Arun Jaitley and many more.

The large distribution and vigorous promotion of the film led to most expectations that the opening day collections may exceed Rs. 25 crore. But the figures didn’t match those beliefs. Ra.One earned about Rs. 18.5 crore on its day-one which was significantly lesser than the Rs. 21.5 crore collections by Salman Khan’s “Bodyguard”. Even though the film managed to collect nearly Rs. 6.5 crore overseas, the domestic collection was remarkably less. But ultimately, it has proved that SRK is a huge star overseas. This difference in revenue led to much comparison between the most expected Diwali release and the spectacular Eid release movies (Ra.One and Bodyguard). Hence, News Chips is not an exception.
 
The Rs. 150 crore mega budget movie Ra.One was released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu simultaneously in 3100 theatres worldwide, in which the 3D format of the film was screened in about 500 theatres. On the other hand, Bodyguard was released in Hindi alone in 2750 theatres round the globe. The marketing expenses of the superhero film also exceeded the other. Rs. 52 crore was spent on marketing the former film while around Rs. 22 crore was spent for the latter. The satellite rights of the King Khan’s film were sold for Rs. 35 crore, whereas the same was Rs. 27 crore for the bodybuilder’s movie.
 
Although the figures were considerably different, the makers of the film Ra.One strongly believe that the revenue may make records in the following days.

So as per the opening day digits, the body builder has proved to be the strongest than the super hero. Let us wait and watch how the numbers turn out!

The long anxious wait of many many vibrant hearts of the world for the ultimate dream event has come to an end today. Yes, its the magnificient 2011 FORMULA 1 AIRTEL GRAND PRIX OF INDIA!!

The exciting three days of the 17th Formula One season kick starts on the auspicious day today, the October 28, 2011.  Millions and millions of electrifying hearts were longing to watch the numerous swift cars flying at the race tracks of Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

India proudly hosts its first-ever Formula One Championship at this gigantic venue. The Buddh International Circuit, just 24 km from New Delhi is capable of accommodating nearly over 1,20,000 international fans of the glitzy event. The 5.141 kilometre track has spread across an area of 875 acres. The F1 speed cars will rapidly lap through 16 largely medium speed corners of the track 60 times thus covering the total distance of about 308.4 kilometres.
The practice events were organized on 28th and 29th of October and the exciting final race fires the tracks of Noida by 3 pm on Sunday, the 30th of October 2011.

The 12 teams participating in this thrilling championship 2011 are Red Bull-Renault, McLaren-Mercedes, Ferrari, Mercedes, Renault, Williams-Cosworth, ForceIndia-Mercedes, Sauber-Ferrari, Toro Rosso-Ferrari, Lotus-Renault, HRT-Cosworth and Virgin-Cosworth. As ever, team 13 and car numbered 13 will never appear in this season also :)

Financial crisis is one of the most violent ghosts that can seriously threat any business. The Ghost has now landed on the shoulders of the co-founder of WikiLeaks, Mr. Julian Assange.

In spite of the fight to overcome the crisis for the past eleven months, the website was forced to temporarily suspend his publishing operations. But still, the WikiLeaks team is really very confident to fight against its proponents more aggressively and to raise the funds for the further survival.

Let us wait and see whether WikiLeaks will have a come back?!!!??!
