Indian super celebrities jump into the Racing tracks

The IPL fire spreads to the racing tracks of India. The magnificent success of the Airtel Formula One Grand Prix and the enormous response for the Indian Premier League in India over the past few years has lead to the emergence of the new racing championship in India – the i1 Super Series.

The eight-team super series (Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Hyderabad and Pune) is mainly promoted by the Machdar Motor sports Company and reports say that the star cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has bought 26% percent stake of the series. Popular celebrities of India have now turned their attention to this highly lucrative Indian Racing League. Some of the hot stars and business people investing in this series prominently include Shah Rukh Khan, Juhi Chawla and Jai Mehta (for the team Mumbai), Telugu superstar Nagarjuna and N Prasad (for the Hyderabad team), Mohit Burman from the Dabur family (for the Delhi team), SG Srinivas (for the team Chennai), Yuvraj Singh (for the Chandigarh team) and Sourav Ganguly (for the Kolkata team). The series with 14 races on the whole will run from January 8, 2012 to February 12, 2012.

Cricket is a well known game and has attracted most people in India of almost all age groups either poor or rich, in both urban and rural areas. People play hours of cricket with a single bat and ball. Hence success of cricket and IPL in India has faced no problems. On the other hand, racing has not been much popular and also playing it is considered to be most expensive. Car racing and Formula One games are reached by people of rich communities.

So, there are some great questions lying in front –

Will the i1 super series gain popularity in India?
Will the investors gain from the Racing League?
Will the surplus amount of money invested help increase Indian revenue?

News Chips is also eager to know the answers of these questions.
